With the weather improving and my schedule a little better I’m excited to announce that the 2025 Beginners Flint Knapping Workshops are back for another year!
Join me for a group Beginners Flint Knapping Workshop
Saturday, 26th April 2025
10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Russia Dock Woodlands, Stave Hill Ecology Park, Rotherhithe, London
In this hands-on workshop, set in the heart of nature, I’ll guide you through the ancient craft of flint knapping. Learn how to create your very own replica Stone Age tools, while enjoying the peaceful woodland surroundings.
Please dress appropriately for the woodland environment and the weather!
I offer a range of experiences, including:
• One-on-one workshops
• Couples sessions
• Family day courses
• Corporate team days
• Demonstrations for local events
These educational workshops will teach you the essential skills of flint knapping — transforming raw stone into functional tools just as our ancestors did. You’ll learn techniques like:
• Hard hammer percussion with quartzite pebbles
• Soft hammer knapping using deer antler
• Precision pressure flaking
By the end of the day, you’ll take home your own handmade tools such as arrowheads, blades, scrapers, and hand axes, exploring techniques from the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic, and Neolithic periods.
You’re also welcome to take home any spare flint material for extra practice!
Spaces are limited, so early booking is essential.
Pricing:
• Adults: £65 per person
• Children (12+): £30 (must be accompanied by a paying adult)
Private one-to-one sessions are also available.

Facilities:
• Toilets are available at Stave Hill Ecology Park (shed)
• Bring your own lunch and drinks (fridges are available on-site)
